What is the "WORG"?
The "BORG" in the last three Star Trek series (Next Generation, Deep Space 9, and Voyager) constituted a high-tech, collectivist society intolerant of dissent, individualism, and liberty-- i.e., a totalitarian ideology. In Voyager, the character "Seven of Nine" (or "7 of 9") was a person who, after being rescued from the BORG, struggled to recover from the lingering effects of her having been "assimilated" into, and indoctrinated by, the BORG. Her struggle required continuingly vigilant and determined efforts to re-attain what she had once had: individualism, free-will and liberty.
The 9-11-2001 attack on America by fanatic followers of a totalitarian version of Islam yielded a unification of Americans on 9-12-2001 against totalitarian fanaticism. Thus, references to a "9-12" state of mind came to symbolize such unification against totalitarianism.
Today, the 'WOKE" ideology in the United States epitomizes the kind of totalitarianism exemplified by the BORG in Star Trek. Thus, the "WORG" represents a WOKE version of BORG totalitarianism. The WORG is a "WOKE BORG."
Thus, "Seven of Nine-Twelve" (7 of 9-12) is our 21st Century heroine waging a constant battle against WOKE totalitarianism (i.e., the WORG). And, of course, she knows it's not "WOKE" OR "WORG" to be described as a "heroine."
Seven of Nine-Twelve is not alone in recognizing the totalitarian, divisive nature of the WOKE ideology. Seven of Nine-Twelve recognizes, admires and recommends ongoing efforts by Nine-Twelve United to rekindle a unifying "9-12" state of mind among Americans to resist all forms totalitarian ideologies, but Seven of Nine-Twelve does not claim that Nine-Twelve United endorses or recommends Seven of Nine-Twelve's efforts to the same end. |
